About Us

The Australian Institute for Narrative Care Ltd (ABN: 92 166 496 500), is a public company, registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, as well as a health advancement charity.

The objects of the Australian Institute for Narrative Care are to do all things incidental and conducive to exercising the powers of the company for the provision and promotion of services for families and family members suffering from extreme distress in the community.

We visualise a community of healthy and resilient families and family members, empowered to minimise the detrimental causes and effects of extreme distress.

Although the AINC is not a public benevolent institution, we therefore mainly aim to provide and promote services for families and family members suffering from extreme distress in the community. We specifically aim to relief the distress of immigrant families and family members traumatised by significant macro and micro disasters (during which they were exposed to death, threatened death, actual or threatened injury, actual or threatened sexual violence) including natural disasters, combat, assault, torture, rape, etc., and consequently suffering from compassion arousing sickness, misfortune or helplessness to the extent that they are in need of assistance.

With this aim in mind, we launch the following practical compassion driven, benevolent relief projects (based on excellent research and training):

  1. Provision of relevant counselling services.
  2. Launching of health promotion, life skills education, mentoring and life coaching projects and activities.
  3. Job creation focused on family members suffering from compassion arousing misfortune or helplessness to the extent that they are in need of assistance.
